Google Wave for Small Business

There has been rumor in the business industry regarding the newest product of Google called The Google Wave. This newest product of Google is a combination of email, wiki, chat, and more. This tool is an integration of almost all communication platforms.

This product is basically intended to any applications it may apply. However, since it is a communication platform, the Google Wave may be best apply for small businesses out there. As a response to the release of this product, what should a small business do? Is it advisable to invest time and money with this new product? Or is it still worth waiting until it receives recognition in the mainstream? We need to touch a little information regarding this product first before deciding if this may be the solution for small businesses.

Well, basically the main purpose of Google wave is to become a modern medium of communication. In business, conversation is very essential. Google wave would like to take part on making the conversation faster, easier and organize. According to Google, “Google Wave is a new tool for communication and collaboration on the web.” Some of the basic and necessary features of Google wave are the following:

  • It employs wiki-style editing. This will give opportunity to everybody to edit anyone else’s message.  The goal is to have a compliant conversation.
  • It allows you to playback previous conversation
  • You can share documents by simply dragging and dropping
  • You can also use applications within the wave. This means, you can embed maps, games and more.

With those basic features, it is not a question of whether it can be useful for small businesses or not. The mere fact that it is a communication tool is already a big factor to conclude that this is indeed useful for small businesses. What Google wave can offer for small businesses is the efficient and effective form of communication which I believe is necessary to run a business. So this is something that small businesses can look up to and adopt to answer the call of modern business processing.
