Tumblr Maker- David Karp, Nominated as One of the America’s Best Young Entrepreneur of 2009
Tumblr (www.tumblr.com), is a microblogging platform develop by an American young entrepreneur David Karp. David Karp is 23 years old and is currently based in New York. David Karp has been running his software consulting business since 2005. He is developing new media for big media companies. David has been amazed with the feature of blogging platform called “tumblelogging”. This inspires him to create a microblogging platform called Tumblr. This new blogging format will present materials in various format, it might be in the form of text, photo and video. He has been fascinated with this media and he just woke up one day with a growing community that have become fans of this form. There is a growing demand to create a simple tool that would allow anybody to create their own. From then on, Karp diligently redesigned the tool. Karp has been into coding since he was 11. People can easily work with Tumblr because it has been designed with speed, ease of use and customization.
Tumblr has been launched in the year 2007. Currently, Tumblr has 1.8 Million users and has acquired $5.5 Million in venture capital. As of now, this company is not making money yet but their first goal is to grow and to go out in the mainstream. So watch out for this new internet media.
