5 Cool Summer Trips in Davao

Summer is a great time to bond, relax and enjoy life. Davao City is of course a great choice. Whether you’d like a laid back or  busy city trip for summer, we got it here for you!  Take a peek of my top 5 list of cool summer trips you can do while you are in Davao.

1. Pearl Farm Beach Resort – I had a blast this weekend during my summer escape in this top rated Pearl Farm Beach Resort in Samal. I also got the chance to party all night in its exclusive Malipano Island where buffets are limitless and drinks — bottomless!

Pearl Farm

PRO: The place is really good — picture perfect! The menu are so delectable and their service gets a five star rating!

CONS: Highly expensive and quiet a long 45 minute boat ride from Pearl Farm Marina at Lanang, Davao City.

2.  Mahan Garden Resort – is just a 5 minute walk right after you step off from Samal’s Ferry Station.  I often just pass by this place every time I go to Samal for a beach outing but last weekend with a group of friends, I finally had the chance to step into the resort’s premises.

Mahan Garden Resort

PRO: Very affordable and very accessible; Good for snorkeling;

CONS: Due to the place is good for snorkeling, many corals, rocks and sea creatures are present in just a few meters away the shoreline — so this means, quiet an “eekky” feeling for your feet touching the sea grounds and sometimes, painful if you happen to step on “thorny” corals and stones. I would suggest you go to this resort during high tide(most of the time, at night) so you can enjoy the beach just near the shoreline where a plain and soft white sand welcomes you.

3. Eden Nature Park – is a mountain resort 3,000 feet above sea level. Eden Nature Park is 95% man-made! It is a great model of how we can re-create nature and rebuild a lost environment.

Eden Nature Park

PRO: Many picture-perfect spots; Cool weather just perfect for summer; Many activities you can enjoy from;

CONS: You must book a car/service to bring you to Eden and take you back to Davao’s downtown. Though it’s just in Toril, it’s  road is a bit steep that no regular routes are available.

4. Restaurants – I’m so proud to say that Davao is a home of so many delectable menu — most of the time — from home grown restaurants.

PRO: A feast of food in Davao is really affordable plus the fact that they are so delicious.

CONS: They are too many to mention.  So I suggest, you find a place near you because I am sure there is. =)

5. Bars and Shopping – if night life is your choice, then Davao is a great place to hang out. Damosa, Torres, Rizal and Matina Town Square are a must see places too.

Shopping will also be good especially now that malls in Davao are growing in numbers. Just this month will be the grand opening of Abreeza Mall in Bajada, Davao City — the first mall in Davao who offers great sights to see through their glamorous landscape. South bound residents and office workers have two malls to choose from, there will be SM South and NCCC Mall — the home grown mall of Davao. Downtown you have Gaisano Mall and Gaisano South Mall. Going to North, you have Robinsons, Abreeza and soon to open SM North.

PRO: Enjoying summer without the risk of burning your skin under the heat of the sun.

CONS: Expensive — you really have to be ready of shelling out from your pockets!

PS: It’s not compulsory to choose only one from my list above. In fact, you can do it all!  Have A Blissful Summer,Everyone! =)
